Treats skin disorders and improves healing
Shea Butter has amazing healing properties. These are believed to be partly attributable to the presence of allantoin, a substance known to stimulate the growth of healthy tissue in ulcerous wounds (Wallace-Bruce, Y. (1995) Shea Butter Extraction in Ghana pp 157-161). This, along with Shea Butter’s ability to help cell regeneration and improve capillary function, helps with all types of skin disorders such as eczema, minor burns, sunburns, rashes, extremely dry skin, as well as promoting the healing of small skin cracks, skin ulcers, and the prevention of scarring and stretch marks. It is also known to lessen the irritation of psoriasis. In fact, many people believe that Shea Butter works as well or better than steroids for eczema and psoriasis. Several studies have revealed that Shea Butter has UV anti-erythemic activity, which helps tissue cell regeneration and softening of the skin (Tran, T., Parfumes, Cosmétiques et Arômes, 58, 65-66, 1986). The study below demonstrates Shea Butter’s ability to promote healthy healing. (F Renard: Thése de doctorat en Pharmacie – Bordeaux 1990) Another clinical study was performed for studying dry, delicate or aging skin. 49 volunteers applied twice a day either 15% or pure Shea Butter. Both products lead to similar results:
- A cicatrizing action was observed in 70% of cases concerning hand dermatitis, sun burns and scars. |
